tl ; dr  : he’s asexual but not sex repulsed , does find aesthetic attraction in other people , and only consents to sexual relationships with those he has a strong romantic attachment to ( good personality and strong intellect generally required ! )

i’m not usually one to make super long-winded meta posts about things , but being that this is something pretty important to me ( and also something i’ve noticed i’ve gotten a lot of questions about ) , i thought i’d give a go at discussing  aemond  &&  asexuality  . 

please note that some of the info i am about to dump on this topic is based solely off of  my  own  experience  , and the research i have done to discover my own identity. it is  NOT  meant to generalize the experiences of those on the ace spectrum ; it is simply meant to explain how this identity pertains to aemond , and how he experiences the world. :) 

first and foremost :  yes  ,  aemond  does  have  libido  . he can and does become aroused , and does experience and enjoy physical pleasure. that is to say , he  is  not  sex repulsed – meaning that he is not adverse to engaging in sexual activity , and as many of you know , can be rather enthusiastic about hitting the bedroom with his romantic partners. sometimes asexuality can be conflated with never having or wanting sex ( which  CAN  BE  true in some a-spec identifying folks ! ) , but in aemond’s experience , this is not the case. it can be said , however , that his sex drive is  low  compared to others around his age. 

with that in mind , let’s dive a little deeper :  does  aemond  find  others  attractive  ? the short answer : yes. the long answer : yes , but only to an extent. there are a series of traits that can be found in both men and women that aemond finds aesthetically pleasing , in the way that someone might find a certain painting style appealing , or might feel certain flowers are more beautiful than others.  there  is  no  sexual  desire  attached  to  this  kind  of  attraction  . so , for instance , aemond may look at alys rivers and think the dress she’s wearing is gorgeous on her , or that her eyes are the most beautiful he’s ever seen ; however , the fact that he’s found physical attributes about her which he is drawn to  does  not  indicate any desire to have sex with her. let’s go back to the flower analogy : you might think a rose that you stumbled upon in a botanical garden is the most awe-inspiring thing you’ve ever seen , but you don’t want to fuck it. aemond is like that , but with people , too.  

it is here that i will briefly note :  personality  and  intellect  are  far  more  attractive  to  aemond  than  any  physical  attribute  will  ever  be  , especially when considering a potential partner !

so  under  what  circumstances  does  aemond  get  it  on  ?  a great question ! if you are familiar with the term  ‘  demisexual  ’  , that would be a pretty good way to think of it ( though i would characterize aemond as being so far on the extreme end of disinterested in sex , asexual is the more apt identifier in my opinion ) ! in plain terms :  aemond  will  enthusiastically  consent  to  sexual  relations  with  those  he  has  formed  a deep  (  romantic  )  connection  to  . for the one-eyed prince ,  LOVE  AND  SEX  are deeply and inherently connected ; all that to say , he could have  love  without  sex  , but he could not have  sex  without  love  . i would attribute some of this to the values and belief systems he was raised with , but i will also say that , considering the world which he lives in , aemond has an overall pretty progressive view on sex. if a man can have women outside of marriage without repercussion , why then should it be any different for a woman ? while he might have no interest in any of this himself , he does not externalize his views and experiences on others by any means.

and finally , i want to address this :  in  your  headcanon  ,  did  aemond  lose  his  virginity  at  the  age  of  13  as  is  implied  by  the  show  ? i think you can guess my answer , and it is  NO  .  yes  , aegon  did  take aemond to the brothel on his thirteenth name day , and  yes  , aemond  did  go to a room with one of the working girls that night. he won’t lie to you , he was curious at first , and the girl which was selected for him by his brother was indeed very pretty , but when she dropped her robe , straddled his lap , and asked the  sweet  little  prince  what he wanted , aemond promptly responded , ❛  𝐈  𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃  𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄  𝐓𝐎  𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍  𝐓𝐎  𝐌𝐘  𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐒  ,  𝐀𝐍𝐃  𝐈  𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃  𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄  𝐌𝐘  𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋  𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐄  𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍  𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄  .  ❜  the girl was duly compensated for her time ( which she mostly spent bored out of her mind as aemond recounted his current studies to her ) , and to this day aegon still doesn’t know the truth about that night.

so yeah , that’s it , that’s the post. if you’ve made it this far , thank you for reading ! as i said before , this is very personal to me ; asexual characters are not easy to find in general , but especially in a series rife ( and often gratuitous ) with sex. i think this is part of what attached me to aemond so quickly , and i’m so glad that all of the lovely people that i’ve spoken to so far have embraced this aspect of him and have been so willing to learn and work with me to develop some amazing plots && dynamics ! so thanks again , and outside of an ic response , i swear you’ll never hear me talk about  anything  this much ever again !

       𝐎𝐇 𝐆𝐎𝐃, 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐎 𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐃 — the truth is that if I’m following you, then I’m happy to see you on dash! But I am not gonna skirt out of it that easily, am I? So, a disclaimer — I am capping myself at ten people (plus obviously the lovely Hayla herself who is joy and light incarnate!). Of course, I have a lot more than ten mutuals all of whom I admire and adore. I’m just going to take this moment to shout out some lovely humans but by no means all of them :

@batteredoptimist​ : Nonny is the reason almost all of my characters on this blog exist, and definitely to the capacity they do. This is my best friend / partner in crime and writing / most bestest human / absolute joy. They are a lovely human and an incredibly talented writer / worldbuilder / artist. I am so invested and have so much love for Nonny’s characters (and Nonny, too, of course!) and I am just...consistently blown away by their lore and writing and I just want to read a whole book or ten about James. Do I have the honor of writing with him most of the time? YES! Do I want more because I’m greedy? Also yes! And... if I don’t stop myself I’m going to babble for way too long. We’ve written 2.7 million words together in less than two years, and I cherish them and our stories and their muses DEARLY. Thank you for sharing your light and stories with me, Nonny! I am forever grateful.

They are so passionate about their muses (and also the enneagram and birds and math and science), we share a ton of inside jokes, and it makes me very happy to see them here because them being happy makes me happy too! 11/10 human, comes highly recommended.

@imprvdente​ / @hvbris​ : Chloé is just an all around amazing human being, to be honest. Fish is incredibly thought out, but so are ALL of the characters on the multimuse. Chloé’s writing is phenomenal and will one day be published, I’m sure of it (and Fish super deserves it). Also, she has been nothing but genuinely kind to me and has such a warm presence. I am very grateful to get to write with and enjoy her presence.

@voxvulgi​ : Sara is just a lovely human in all of the ways and when the dash is graced with her presence, all is right with the world. Her writing is exactly the kind that inspires you to give your response your all just because her works are masterpieces that deserve the very best. Her characters thouuuugh, and her writing, and just *gestures* the whole package.

@astremourante​ : Ami has built an amazing character that I am SO excited to write with (I am so angry at my queue right now). Also the vibes for both mun and muse are immaculate. Her posts always bring me joy to see on the dash whether IC or OOC and I am pretty sure I have hit the heart excessively because hello amazing human I think that you’re neat!

@angerworn​ : Zed is a bad influence! (Kidding, mostly!) We haven’t been talking for long, but I have been nothing short of consistently inspired by all of the characters that she brings to the table. Also, my muses are all making the biggest grabby hands and want to learn and explore all of the things. Also, Zed has really a really nice energy and presence and I like that a lot!

@tewwor​ : Ro has been with me for a very long time, and through many hiatuses on both ends. I remember even in the beginning being drawn in to how well she tells a story and somehow even more masterfully brings their characters together. From the first, I have just been immersed and amazed at the talent, and at how kind Ro is as a person, too. Can’t imagine myself not following a Ro blog, tbh.

@ofhope / @yourburningsoul​ : Olivia and I haven’t gotten the chance to write together much, and that’s all right because it’s just so easy to see the passion that she brings to her muses. The first blog I followed her on had me so utterly immersed I was sitting there reading posts even though I didn’t know the original media well! Olivia’s presence on dash is one of kindness, joy and light and I’m just so happy to be in her sphere.

@wehavefoundthestars​ : Eve and I have been writing together for years now, and that’s wild to me. This is one of the rare cases in getting so immersed in threads that your characters end up getting married and starting a family. And then...there’s Westley. Oops. Eve has so much love and compassion for Elio that I much prefer hers to the original and now know only one portrayal.

@innerwar : Tommy and I haven’t had the chance to write yet, but I am admiring from afar and am super impressed at how one person can write so many COMPLEX muses so dang well. Also, Tommy, you wrote a novel and that is AMAZING!? I just want you to know that I like your aesthetic, vibe and writing a lot an that there is definitely a post lurking in my queue for you.

* general rules apply i.e. no godmodding or metagaming , no force-shipping , & no hate .  triggers will be properly tagged .  please keep in mind that regardless of his complexity , garland is primarily a villain and an antagonist .  his methods should not be agreed with , 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞 , and i do not accept garland’s actions or motivations beyond the narrative function they serve .

* my depiction of garland is predominantly based on his appearances in f.inal f.antasy and the d.issidia f.inal f.antasy franchise .  i 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 take influence from the manga or the novel , i 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 write the garlands that are from f.inal f.antasy ix and m.obius f.inal f.antasy , and i 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 write j.ack g.arland from s.tranger of paradise : f.inal f.antasy origin .  that said , i will still write with characters from / based within s.opffo , and i will have an s.opffo au verse available .

* mains + exclusives are made by mutual agreement as well as extensive in-character + out-of-character communication .  as this is a rpc that is constantly changing with unique and multifaceted variations of different characters , i will be more selective when it comes to exclusives as i wish to make myself more 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 , but i am more than open to the idea of prioritizing and establishing mains .  while i may have more than one version of a given character as a main , i will only write with one version of a character if they are an exclusive .  at this time , i will not be doing affiliates , as i feel it already has some overlap with what i consider for my mains / exclusives , so i don’t really feel the need for another category .  if you are my main or exclusive ( or even my ship exclusive ) , then that means your narrative is important to me and i will connect it with my own .

* any ships with garland is going to be extremely selective and they will be based on ic chemistry + ooc communication .  he is not an easily romanceable character .  garland has canonical romantic feelings for princess sarah , but these feelings are also canonically unrequited .  while sarah’s feelings can be left up to their respective writer , it is imperative to my interpretation of garland that he is under the belief that his love is not returned , with the only exception to this is s.opffo , as that version of sarah refers to garland as her first love .  that said , garland x sarah and other ships with garland are possible if the chemistry is there , but again , a lot of communication and trust is key in order for me to feel 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 .  i don’t want my garland to be reduced to anyone’s dark / toxic / villain ship option , and i will not instantly ship with garland or be forced into ships .  please respectfully talk to me and ask .  if it happens , it happens , and if it doesn’t , it doesn’t .

as demand has grown for threads and ask prompts , i have decided to start establishing mains !! as a main on this blog , you will receive priority when it comes to any kind of in character responses ; will be the first i approach for wanted plots / interactions ; and will generally be subjected to my ramblings on a regular basis. there is one requirement i have in order to accept you as a main :

we must have , at minimum , chatted about desired muse dynamics / plots . we don't have to have known each other for long or even spoken at length , but as i haven't had the chance to establish a lot of threads yet and some of my ooc communications have been inconsistent due to life circumstances , i do ask that we have at least worked towards plotting a dynamic. in lieu of this , an ongoing thread , no matter how few notes it has , is acceptable. i like to think i'm a pretty nice person though , so please don't let this deter you from shooting your shot if you're uncertain.

i will be aiming not to accept more than 5 mains per canon muse. exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

ocs are welcome to request to be a main !! obviously your muse is unique and thus is not subjected to the above rule , but your beans are valid and just as worthy of this opportunity in my eyes !
